FAW tyre change

FAW (First Automobile Works) is one of China's oldest state carmakers and the parent of Bestune and Hongqi, as well as joint ventures with Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota and Mazda. Older FAW-badged cars in the UAE are mostly the Besturn X80, X40 and B70, plus a few Xiali and Oley hatchbacks, which arrived through earlier importers and personal imports.

The Besturn SUVs use mainstream sizes: 215/60 R17 on the X80, 215/55 R17 on the X40 and 215/55 R18 on the T77. These are widely stocked, so an older FAW is easy to keep on good tyres. On cars that have changed hands a few times, check the sidewall rather than assume the wheels are original, and replace any tyre older than about five years, as UAE heat ages rubber quickly.

  • Older FAW cars may not be on original wheels; read the sidewall before ordering.
  • Check the DOT date code; replace tyres older than about five years.
  • Most Besturn sizes are mainstream and usually available the same day.

FAQ

Questions drivers ask us

Wheel alignment inside a tyre service centre

What tyre size does a FAW Besturn X80 use?

The Besturn X80 uses 215/60 R17 on its factory 17 inch wheels.

Are FAW and Bestune the same brand?

Bestune (earlier spelled Besturn) is FAW's own passenger car brand, so older cars may say FAW Besturn and newer ones just Bestune. Tyre sizes follow the model, not the badge.

How much are tyres for an older FAW car?

Usually AED 200 to 450 per tyre fitted for 17 and 18 inch sizes, depending on brand. Send us a sidewall photo on WhatsApp for a quote.

New tyres for your FAW?

We reply with prices for budget, mid-range and premium options, then send a technician to wherever the car is.
