The UAE is tough on these tyres in a specific way. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have long, fast highways, two international circuits and road temperatures above 60°C for half the year, so tread compound and heat management matter more than in most markets. Rear tyres on a 600 hp car can be finished in 8,000 to 15,000 km.
We fit sports-car tyres on site with low-profile changers, wheel-protecting clamps and precise on-van balancing, and we source marked tyres for most supercars, often the same or next day.
Carmaker markings on sports-car tyres
A Porsche N-marked or Ferrari F-marked tyre is built to that carmaker's specification for construction, compound and sometimes even sidewall stiffness front and rear. Mixing marked and unmarked tyres, or different N numbers on one axle, can upset the balance a car was developed with.
When buying, read the full sidewall code. A Pirelli P Zero for a Porsche 911 is not the same as a P Zero for a Ferrari 296, even in a matching size.
Heat, sand and road use in the UAE
Maximum-performance tyres work best warm, which UAE roads deliver for most of the year, but they lose grip sharply on sand-dusted road surfaces after a shamal wind. Take extra care on slip roads and roundabouts on windy days, particularly in Abu Dhabi and on the E11 near open desert.
Also avoid leaving a sports car parked for months in summer heat. Flat spots and compound ageing are common on cars that sit in uncovered parking while owners travel.
Track days and tyre life
A single track day at Yas Marina or Dubai Autodrome can use 10 to 20% of a road tyre's tread, and more if pressures are not managed. Some owners keep a second set of wheels with semi-slick tyres for circuits and their road tyres for daily use.
After a track day, check for graining, blistering or chunking on the shoulders before driving at speed on the road.
Technician tips
- Buy the exact OE-marked tyre, with the same marking on both tyres of an axle.
- Check tyre age; performance compounds harden faster in UAE heat.
- Take speed bumps at walking pace with 30 profile tyres.
- Inspect the inner shoulders; aggressive camber wears them unseen.
- Use a battery tender and tyre cradles if the car will sit for weeks.
- Replace rears as a pair, never singly.
