Performance
Braking is Continental's signature. The PremiumContact 7, launched in 2022, and the SportContact 7, launched in 2021, have both placed at or near the top of major European tests for wet and dry stopping distances. That matters on Dubai's busy multi-lane roads, where sudden braking at 100 km/h is a daily event.
Steering on the SportContact 7 is direct and builds weight progressively, which suits drivers of German performance cars. The touring lines are tuned slightly firmer than Bridgestone, so feedback is sharper but small road imperfections come through more.
Durability
Continental touring tyres give good, not class-leading, tread life. A PremiumContact 7 on a Tiguan commonly lasts 40,000–55,000 km in UAE use. The EcoContact 6 is the longest-lasting Continental for small cars, often reaching 60,000 km on a Corolla driven gently.
The SportContact 7 is a performance tyre and wears faster, typically 25,000–35,000 km on powerful rear-drive cars. Keep alignment checked after hitting speed bumps or kerbs, because inner-edge wear on low-profile Continentals is common on lowered German sedans.
In UAE conditions
Continental compounds handle UAE heat well, but performance tyres like the SportContact 7 can feel greasy if driven hard for long periods when road temperatures pass 65°C. Check pressures monthly; a 4 PSI drop on low-profile sizes noticeably dulls steering.
For sand, only the CrossContact ATR is appropriate, and it is best for light dune use and graded desert tracks rather than deep Liwa sand. The CrossContact LX Sport and PremiumContact lines are strictly road tyres.
Typical price per tyre
