Hummer tyre change
The Hummer H1, H2 and H3 were very popular in the UAE in the 2000s, and many are still used for desert trips and as weekend cars. GM closed the Hummer brand in 2010, and the name now lives on as the electric GMC Hummer EV. The H2 runs large LT315/70 R17 tyres, around 35 inches tall, which are heavy, expensive and best ordered in advance.

The H1 Alpha uses 37x12.50 R17 tyres, while earlier H1s used 37x12.50 R16.5, a size with very limited choice today. The H3 is the most practical: 265/75 R16 on standard cars and 285/75 R16 on the Adventure package. In the sand, lowering pressure gives traction, but these heavy trucks must be reinflated before driving on hot tarmac.
- H2 tyres are LT load-range tyres; use the placard pressure, not a passenger car figure.
- Reinflate after desert driving before you reach the highway.
- Early H1 sizes on 16.5 inch rims have very few options left; ask before you need them.
- The H2 spare is usually a full-size tyre; include it in rotations to spread wear.
