Pontiac tyre change
GM retired Pontiac in 2010, so Pontiacs in the UAE today are older imports and enthusiast cars. The most interesting for Gulf owners is the G8, which is a Holden Commodore VE built in Australia, closely related to the Chevrolet Lumina sold in the region. It uses 245/45 R18 on the GT and 245/40 R19 on the GXP, and those sizes are easy to source here.

The G6 uses 225/50 R17 on GT versions and the Solstice roadster runs 245/45 R18. Many of these cars now cover low mileage, so the tyres often look fine but are well past their safe age. In UAE heat, rubber older than six years can crack and fail even with plenty of tread left.
- G8 tyre sizes match the Chevrolet Lumina SS of the same era.
- Check the DOT date code on low-mileage cars; replace tyres over six years old.
- The V8 G8 GT and GXP wear rear tyres faster; rotate them if the size is square.

FAQ
Questions drivers ask us
What tyre size does a Pontiac G8 use?
The G8 GT usually uses 245/45 R18, and the GXP uses 245/40 R19 on all four corners.
Is a Pontiac G8 the same as a Chevrolet Lumina?
Both are based on the Holden Commodore VE, so tyre sizes for equivalent wheel sizes are the same. Always confirm with the sidewall.
Can you fit tyres on a classic Pontiac?
Yes. Send us a photo of the sidewall on WhatsApp and we will source the size and fit it at your home or garage.
