UAZ tyre change
UAZ is a Russian maker of simple, tough 4x4s from Ulyanovsk. The Patriot SUV, the Hunter, the Pickup and the 3909 van, known as the Bukhanka or loaf, are all body-on-frame vehicles with solid axles. UAZ is not sold officially in the UAE, so the few here are imports used for off-road and desert driving.

Almost the whole range shares one standard size, 225/75 R16, with 235/70 R16 and 245/70 R16 as factory options on the Patriot, Hunter and Pickup. That makes all-terrain upgrades easy. Lowering pressure on sand works well with these tall sidewalls, but reinflate before returning to the highway.
- An all-terrain 225/75 R16 or 245/70 R16 suits UAZ owners who drive in the desert.
- Replace all four tyres together on full-time or part-time 4WD UAZs.
- Loaded 3909 vans need tyres with the OE load index or higher.
